I'm totally with you. I wonder why people are maintaining this "work experience only" thing anyway. We as candidates create a special skillset in our free time which is in demand for several companies.

And looking at the talent shortage in IT I wonder how companies can afford to reject candidates with those skills, just because they are self taught (during spare time with great effort and research and stuff).
